Exploration of Activities During the Student Exchange Program at Wuxi Institute of Technology, China

The arrival of the Sharia Economics Master’s students at the Wuxi Institute of Technology, China, marks the beginning of their journey in the Student Exchange program. Since September 15, 2023, the students have enthusiastically participated in a variety of activities aimed at fostering their academic growth and cultural awareness throughout the program.

One of the most captivating experiences was the City Tour they took part in. The students had the chance to explore significant locations in Wuxi, such as the WUXI Museum, Huishan Ancient Town, and WUXI Studio. This tour offered them a valuable opportunity to gain a deeper understanding of the city where they will be based during the program. During the visit, the students not only enhanced their knowledge of Chinese history and culture but also strengthened their social connections with other participants in the Student Exchange program.
In addition to their academic pursuits, the Sharia Economics Master’s students had the opportunity to engage in a range of extracurricular programs organized within the campus environment. The university provides a variety of clubs and organizations that offer activities beyond the core curriculum. For instance, the Institute of Control Technology Science and Technology Association, Greenstream Literary Society, and Xichen Intangible Cultural Heritage Society are just a few of the many clubs and organizations available for participation.

Engaging in these clubs allows students to pursue activities aligned with their interests and hobbies. For instance, the Institute of Control Technology Science and Technology Association club offers a platform for students interested in control technology and related sciences. Similarly, the Greenstream Literary Society organizes activities related to literature and writing, which can enhance their language skills and literary comprehension.

The Xichen Intangible Cultural Heritage Society is a prime example of a club that centers on intangible cultural heritage, encompassing culinary traditions and performing arts, among other aspects. Involvement in such clubs enables students to explore facets of Chinese culture and heritage, fostering a profound understanding of the local culture.

These clubs also offer opportunities to establish a wide social network, connecting students with peers and individuals beyond the campus environment. These connections are immensely valuable in fostering the academic and professional development of students in the future.

During the Student Exchange program, MES students concentrated on studying Financial Management with an innovative approach incorporating the application of financial technology. This subject was particularly compelling due to the rapid growth of financial technology and its significant global impact. Additionally, they took courses in Project Management and various other subjects to enhance their comprehension of economics and business management.

Additional classes such as Chinese Listening and Speaking, as well as Chinese Culture, were also integral to their experience. Understanding the Chinese language and culture is crucial, not only in an academic context but also in their daily interactions with the local community.

The Student Exchange program at the Wuxi Institute of Technology, China, is more than just an academic experience, it is a journey that enriches experiences and culture. All of these experiences are crucial steps in shaping students prepared to compete at the international level.
