Initiation of Student Mobility Program to Open Up the Internationalization Process for MES Students

In an effort to enhance the quality of education and global competitiveness, FEBI UIN Sunan Kalijaga held a Student Mobility Program to Malaysia and Singapore from October 23-27, 2023. This program marked the first step in the internationalization process for Master of Sharia Economics students. The activities encompassed an international conference aimed at honing students' research skills and an International Company Visit designed to broaden their understanding of the global business landscape. The registration process commenced in early July, commencing with administrative selection, which required students to submit written articles demonstrating proficiency in English. Subsequent interview selections were conducted to evaluate the capabilities of prospective participants in the mobility program.

Among the 13 selected mobility participants, three were Master of Sharia Economics students: Rizki Alfiandani (3rd-semester), Amila Zamzabila Putri (3rd-semester), and Maulana Ali Akbar (2nd-semester). Prior to their departure, the participants were equipped with the necessary arrangements, including preparing paper presentations and outlining the program's schedule of activities.

A week before their departure, all mobility participants were tasked with joining the organizing committee for the International Short Course (ISC) organized by FEBI UIN Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta. The ISC was attended by 52 participants from a diverse range of countries, including Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Brunei Darussalam, Gambia, India, Madagascar, Malaysia, Pakistan, Tanzania, the United States of America, the United Kingdom, and Indonesia. This experience provided a valuable learning opportunity, enabling the students to engage directly with foreign peers and enhancing their English language skills in preparation for international activities.

On October 23, 2023, the mobility students gathered at Tugu Station at 04:00 for their departure. The event was attended by the Dean of FEBI, Mr. Afdawaiza, and the Vice Dean III, Mr. Ahmad Salehudin. Their presence underscored the aspiration that this student mobility program would elevate the students’ competencies in the international arena, equipping them to compete on a global scale. It also reaffirmed the faculty’s unwavering commitment to continuously support and cultivate academic excellence, ensuring that all students achieve distinction and prominence. The event concluded with a collective prayer led by Mr. Ahmad Salehududin, followed by a group photo.
