“Half Day with Community Training” Successfully Increases the Understanding of Sharia Non-Bank Financial Industry (IKNB) Product Literacy

The Financial Services Authority (OJK), in collaboration with the FEBI community and Directorate of IKNB Development and Digital Financial Innovation, held a Training of Community (ToC) event for the Non-Bank Sharia Financial Industry (IKNB). The event commenced with an opening address by the Executive Analyst of IKNB Development and Digital Financial Innovation at OJK on Thursday, June 8, 2023, at the Kesultanan Ballroom of the Royal Ambarukmo Hotel in Yogyakarta. Among the approximately 80 participants, 16 were students enrolled in the Master of Islamic Economics (MES) program of FEBI UIN Sunan Kalijaga.

The Training of Community (ToC) program aims to improve financial literacy, education, and inclusion within the Indonesian community. The ToC was specifically designed for academics from institutes and higher education institutions, with the hope of enhancing their ability to absorb information effectively, thereby facilitating the wider dissemination of Sharia IKNB. The event commenced with the rendition of the Indonesian national anthem “Indonesia Raya,” led by Nadin, followed by the recitation of verses from the Holy Qur'an by Qolbi, bestowing blessings upon the event from beginning to end. The keynote speech and opening by the Executive Analyst of IKNB Development and Digital Financial Innovation at OJK symbolically marked the official commencement of the ToC program.

The core of the program involved presentations by scholars with a profound understanding of Sharia IKNB, segmented into 3 sessions. However, prior to the commencement of these sessions, a pre-test was administered to assess the audience's comprehension of Sharia IKNB. The first session commenced with an introduction to OJK and Sharia IKNB products by Yana Triyana, a Senior Analyst of IKNB Development and Digital Financial Innovation at OJK. The presentation equipped the audience with knowledge about various products within Sharia IKNB, encompassing Sharia insurance, Sharia financing, Sharia pension funds, and other Sharia IKNB products. The second session, led by Hasan Al-Banna, a FEBI’s lecturer, offered a more comprehensive explanation of Sharia financing. His engaging and humorous delivery not only entertained the audience but also effectively conveyed the information. The third session, focusing on Sharia insurance and presented by Izra Berakon, infused liveliness into the event, facilitating the audience's understanding of the material. Subsequently, a direct discussion with the audience ensued, serving as a platform for enhancing understanding and exchanging information.

To measure the audience’s level of understanding following the presentations, a post-test was conducted, and the audience participated in it enthusiastically. The results revealed a significant improvement from the pre-test, leading Agung Wicaksono, the Deputy of OJK, to feel proud of the ToC program. The event concluded with the distribution of rewards to the audience members with the highest post-test scores and the winners of the quiz organized by the event committee. Subsequently, the MC officially closed the ToC event.
