Professor Acceleration Program for Lecturers of the Faculty of Islamic Economics and Business (FEBI) UIN Sunan Kalijaga
Achieving the academic rank of Professor (Guru Besar) is not only a personal milestone for lecturers, but also an institutional priority to strengthen the human resources of higher education institutions. Currently, the Faculty of Islamic Economics and Business (FEBI) UIN Sunan Kalijaga has only two Professors. Therefore, this program serves as a strategic effort to encourage lecturers who currently hold the academic rank of Associate Professor (Lektor Kepala) to progress toward the rank of Professor.
To attain the position of Professor, lecturers must fulfill specific requirements related to scholarly publications. These requirements include publishing scientific articles in reputable international journals. At a minimum, one article must be published in a Scopus-indexed international journal with the lecturer serving as the first author. Once this requirement is met, the pathway toward the rank of Professor becomes increasingly attainable. In practice, however, publishing articles in reputable international journals is a challenging process, making structured training and academic writing mentorship aligned with international journal standards essential.
In this program, the Faculty of Islamic Economics and Business (FEBI) UIN Sunan Kalijaga nominated two lecturers holding the academic rank of Associate Professor, namely Dr. Mukhamad Yazid Afandi, M.Ag. and Dr. Muhammad Ghafur Wibowo, S.E., M.Sc. Both lecturers participated in a scientific writing training program oriented toward reputable international journals, organized by the IA Scholar Foundation (Yayasan Irwan Abdullah Cendekia). This institution has extensive experience in mentoring hundreds of lecturers and researchers in publishing articles in international journals.
The program was directly led by Prof. Dr. Irwan Abdullah, a Professor at Universitas Gadjah Mada with hundreds of publications indexed in Scopus. The training was also supported by mentors from among researchers and lecturers who have dozens of Scopus-indexed publications, as well as experienced assistants. The final outcome of this program is the production of scientific articles that are ready for submission to reputable international journals.
