Monitoring and Evaluation of OBE Curriculum Implementation in the Master’s Program in Islamic Economics (MES)

The Outcome-Based Education (OBE) curriculum has been implemented by the Master’s Program in Islamic Economics (MES), Faculty of Islamic Economics and Business (FEBI), UIN Sunan Kalijaga since 2024, replacing the Merdeka Belajar–Kampus Merdeka (MBKM) curriculum introduced in 2020. In line with the ongoing implementation of the 2024 OBE curriculum, FEBI UIN Sunan Kalijaga conducted a Monitoring and Evaluation (Monev) of the OBE curriculum implementation.

The monitoring and evaluation activity was held on Thursday, July 17, 2025, at the 2nd Floor Meeting Room of FEBI UIN Sunan Kalijaga and was attended by the entire faculty leadership as well as heads and secretaries of study programs. The invited resource persons were Ruspita Rani Pertiwi, Head of the Center for Curriculum and Learning Development at the Quality Assurance Institute (LPM) of UIN Sunan Kalijaga, and Salim Athari, Coordinator of the Academic Application and Quality Assurance Division, PTIPD UIN Sunan Kalijaga.

The monitoring and evaluation findings indicated that all study programs within FEBI, including the Master’s Program in Islamic Economics, have adopted the OBE curriculum; however, its implementation has not yet been fully integrated into the existing academic systems. Some lecturers were found to still be applying elements of the previous curriculum in teaching and assessment practices. As a result, it was مقرر that starting from the odd semester of the 2025/2026 academic year, all lecturers are required to implement the OBE curriculum in a comprehensive and consistent manner.

All FEBI leadership and study program management expressed their commitment to fully enforcing this policy, as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen learning outcomes, assessment alignment, and overall academic quality in accordance with internal quality assurance standards.
