Master’s Program in Islamic Economics at UIN Sunan Kalijaga Promotes Islamic Financial Literacy through AWP Certification and Sharia Stock Investment
Yogyakarta — The Master’s Program in Islamic Economics (MES), Faculty of Islamic Economics and Business (FEBI), UIN Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta, organized a program entitled “AWP Certification and Sharia Stock Investment” on October 17–18, 2025. The activity aimed to strengthen competencies and enhance Islamic financial literacy among the academic community. Conducted online over two days, the program was attended by 40 participants comprising students, alumni, and lecturers of FEBI UIN Sunan Kalijaga, with a shared commitment to deepening understanding of financial management aligned with Islamic principles.
The program was officially opened by Muhammad Ghafur Wibowo, S.E., M.Sc., Head of the Master’s Program in Islamic Economics. In his opening remarks, he emphasized that the initiative represents a concrete effort by MES UIN Sunan Kalijaga to develop human resources capable of addressing contemporary challenges through ethical, sustainable, and maslahah-oriented Islamic finance. He noted that financial decisions should not be assessed solely based on profitability, but also on the values of justice and barakah embedded within them.
The training was also attended by several FEBI UIN Sunan Kalijaga lecturers, including Misnen Ardiyansyah, S.E., M.Si., Ak., CA., ACPA., Dean of the Faculty of Islamic Economics and Business; Prof. Anton Bawono, M.Si.; Prof. H. Syafiq Mahmadah Hanafi, M.Ag.; Dr. Abdul Haris, M.Ag.; Dr. Ibnu Muhdir, M.Ag.; Dr. Siti Nur Azizah, S.E.I., M.E.I.; and Dr. Joko Setyono, S.E., M.Si. Their presence reflected strong institutional support for integrating academic theory with professional practice in the development of Islamic economics.
On the first day, participants received in-depth sessions delivered by national experts in Islamic finance. The program began with an opening session and an introduction to Sharia-based AWP certification by Ahmad Dahlan Malik, B.A.(Hons)., M.Ec., CFP., AWP. This was followed by “Tauhidic Financial Planning: Rezeki for a Sakinah Family” presented by Dr. Bambang Tutuko, S.E., M.M., CFP®., AWP. Subsequent sessions included “ZISWAF in Financial Planning” by Ahmad Hudaifah, S.E., M.Ec., AWP., and “Maqashid al-Shariah in Financial Planning: Sakinah Finance” delivered by Ahmad Dahlan Malik. The first day concluded with a session on Sharia Stock Investment presented by Dr. Bambang Tutuko. All sessions emphasized the importance of structured wealth management guided by tauhid values and maqashid al-shariah as foundational principles in financial decision-making.
The second day focused on practical simulations of Islamic financial planning, covering topics such as budgeting, life insurance, retirement planning, children’s education funds, home ownership, marriage funds, waqf allocation, hajj preparation, and personal financial reporting. These simulation sessions were designed to enable participants to apply AWP principles directly within family and individual financial contexts, while fostering awareness of sustainable financial practices aligned with Islamic values.
Participants demonstrated strong enthusiasm throughout the program. Interactive discussions, question-and-answer sessions, and hands-on practice were among the most anticipated components, as they provided new insights into the practical application of Islamic principles in everyday financial management. Several participants also noted that the training not only enhanced their technical financial knowledge but also strengthened their spiritual awareness in managing wealth responsibly and ethically.
Upon completion, each participant received a certificate of completion, the professional designation AWP-S™, and exclusive learning modules from IPFE Syariah. This training represents a tangible step by the Master’s Program in Islamic Economics at UIN Sunan Kalijaga in equipping students and lecturers with practical skills toward professionalism in the halal finance sector.
The program concluded with closing remarks from Ahmad Dahlan Malik, who expressed appreciation for the participants’ enthusiasm throughout the two-day training. He reaffirmed that true financial success is not measured solely by material accumulation, but by the value of benefit and barakah generated. “Islamic financial planning is a pathway to peace of mind and the well-being of a sakinah family grounded in tauhid,” he stated, concluding the program with motivational reflection.
