Master of Sharia Economics Study Program Holds Learning Socialization (SOSPEM) to Enhance Students' Soft and Hard Skills

The Master of Sharia Economics Study Program, Faculty of Islamic Economics and Business, UIN Sunan Kalijaga, Yogyakarta, organized a three-day learning socialization event from Thursday, November 28 to Saturday, November 30, 2024, at the Theatrical Room, 3rd Floor, FEBI Building, UIN Sunan Kalijaga. This event aimed to enhance students' soft and hard skills, develop their social abilities, foster a positive attitude toward the learning process, and train critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
The event was officially opened by the Vice Dean for Academic Affairs of the Faculty of Islamic Economics and Business, Dr. Sunaryati, SE., M.Si, emphasizing the significance of SOSPEM for Master's (S2) students. This marked the first time SOSPEM was conducted separately from the undergraduate (S1) program, tailored specifically to the needs of Master's students to support the development of Sharia-based economic knowledge in the modern era.
The event was attended by approximately 60 participants, consisting of first and second-semester students. The first day's activities included presentations on the curriculum and program highlights:
Head of the Master of Sharia Economics Study Program, Dr. Muhammad Ghafur Wibowo, S.E., M.Sc., explained the structure of the 2020 and 2024 curricula, based on Outcome-Based Education. This was followed by a presentation from the Vice Dean for Academic Affairs, Dr. Sunaryati, SE., M.Si, regarding the Faculty's Academic Development Policies. The session was further enriched by a presentation and internalization of the Core Values of UIN Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta, delivered by the Vice Dean for Student Affairs, Dr. Mukhamad Yazid Afandi, M.Ag. The final session concluded with a goal-setting workshop for Master of Sharia Economics students, guided by a panel discussion and practical exercises led by Alex Fahrur Riza, SE., M.Sc., and Syayyidah Maftuhatul Jannah, SE., M.Sc.

The second day featured an engaging discussion led by an expert speaker, Prof. Drs. Agus Widarjono, MA., Ph.D., from the Islamic University of Indonesia (UII), moderated by Dr. Akmal Ikhsan, a lecturer at Nahdlatul Ulama University (UNU). The session focused on Quantitative Analysis in Contemporary Sharia Economics Research. The second session continued with a journal finder workshop, equipping students with the skills to locate appropriate journals and prepare for publication.
On the third day, the Master's Program Student Association (HMPM) team facilitated activities aimed at socializing and recruiting students to join HMPM's organizational activities. This day focused on developing students' hard skills in leadership through organizational involvement.
Through SOSPEM, it is hoped that students will experience significant personal and academic growth, equipped with both soft skills and hard skills. Additionally, the event aims to enhance students' social abilities, strengthening their communication, interaction, and collaboration skills. Ultimately, this fosters social competencies such as empathy, tolerance, and teamwork, invaluable in both daily life and the professional world. In summary, the Master of Sharia Economics Study Program is committed to producing competent, integrity-driven graduates capable of meeting the demands of the industry and global society through initiatives such as SOSPEM.
