Student Research Team from the MES Study Program Wins Best Paper at the 3rd Annual International Conference on Islamic Economics (AICIE) 2024
The Annual International Conference on Islamic Economics (AICIE) stands as the most prestigious international conference in the field of Islamic economics, attended by academics, practitioners, and researchers from various countries. This event was organized by the Faculty of Islamic Economics and Business, the State Islamic Institute of Ponorogo on June 25, 2024, with the aim of exploring issues related to Islamic economics and business. The conference, themed “Crisis in the Middle East: Leveraging Islamic Economics in Addressing Global Economic Turmoil,” covered three key scopes: Economics, Finance, and Philanthropy.
The journey of the student research team from the Master of Sharia Economics (MES) Study Program to victory was arduous. They underwent a rigorous selection process, from abstract evaluation to presentations before a panel of judges consisting of experts in Sharia economics. The selection process resulted in 64 research teams qualifying for the opportunity to present their findings. The event was divided into two categories: the Main Conference and the Student Colloquium. Based on the three conference categories, one paper was selected as the Best Paper in each of the three scopes: Economics, Finance, and Philanthropy. Thus, six teams were awarded the Best Paper.
The student team from the MES Study Program, Faculty of Islamic Economics and Business, UIN Sunan Kalijaga, actively participated in this conference. Led by Basri as the team leader, and in collaboration with postgraduate students Muh. Asharif, Zulfidayanti, and Herianti, they successfully secured the Best Paper award for “Outstanding Contribution in Islamic Economics at the 3rd Annual International Conference on Islamic Economics, June 25, 2024” for their paper titled “Islamic Modeling Analysis of Income Inequality in Indonesia: With a Vector Error Correction Model (VECM)” under the Economics scope. Overall, the event received high appreciation from the judges and participants, as it was deemed to have made a significant contribution to the development of sustainable Islamic economics.
With this achievement, the student research team from the Master of Sharia Economics Study Program, UIN Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta has demonstrated their ability to compete and contribute to the advancement of Sharia economics on an international stage. This success is expected to serve as motivation for other MES students to further hone and develop their potential, achieve excellence, and contribute to the academic field of Sharia economics.
