Inauguration and Work Meeting of the Graduate Student Association of Islamic Economics, FEBI UIN Sunan Kalijaga: Accelerating Transformation and Strengthening a Spirit of Synergy

Yogyakarta, April 26, 2025 — The Graduate Student Association (HMPM) of Islamic Economics, Faculty of Islamic Economics and Business (FEBI), UIN Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta, held the Inauguration of the New Executive Board and Annual Work Meeting on Saturday (April 26, 2025), under the theme “Synergy in Progressive Action for an Adaptive and Visionary HMPM.”
The event marked an important milestone in inaugurating the new term of leadership, which is expected to bring tangible and meaningful transformation to the organization.

The program commenced with welcoming remarks from the Chair of the Organizing Committee, who expressed appreciation to all committee members, elected officers, and invited guests for their participation and support. The chair also conveyed apologies for any shortcomings during the preparation and implementation of the event, and expressed hope that the occasion would serve as a starting point for HMPM to continue growing and contributing not only internally, but also to the wider academic and social environment.

Subsequently, remarks were delivered by the Head of the Master’s Program in Islamic Economics, Muhammad Ghafur Wibowo, S.E., M.Sc. He expressed appreciation to the organizing committee and the newly inaugurated executive board, while emphasizing the importance of fostering solidarity, creativity, and courage in managing student organizations within the dynamic context of graduate-level academia. He highlighted that the relatively rapid student turnover at the master’s level requires leadership transitions to be carefully timed in order to ensure relevance and optimal organizational performance.

The event was then officially opened by the Vice Dean III of FEBI, Ibi Satibi, S.H.I., M.Si., who also formally inaugurated the HMPM executive board for the 2025–2026 term. In his address, he emphasized that the inauguration should not be regarded merely as a ceremonial activity, but as a concrete commitment that must be realized through substantive actions and responsible leadership.

In his inaugural speech, the newly elected President of HMPM presented his leadership vision under the framework of the “Five Transformations of HMPM”: Harmonious, Collaborative, Progressive, Innovative, and Competitive. He emphasized that harmony is essential for unity, collaboration for sustainability, progress for direction, innovation for relevance, and competitiveness for purpose—messages that strongly resonated with and energized all participants in attendance.

Following the inauguration, the agenda continued with the Annual Work Meeting, during which strategic programs for the upcoming year were discussed. This session provided a platform for all executive members to deliberate, formulate action plans, and establish concrete steps toward realizing an HMPM that is more adaptive, visionary, and responsive to contemporary challenges.

With renewed spirit and a strong organizational foundation, the Graduate Student Association of Islamic Economics, FEBI UIN Sunan Kalijaga, is poised to move forward toward positive transformation—addressing the demands of the times and positioning itself at the forefront of academic and organizational development at the postgraduate level.
