Collaboration between the Master’s Program in Islamic Economics at UIN Sunan Kalijaga and Bacaan Media Promotes Students’ Academic Literacy
Yogyakarta, August 11, 2025 — Efforts to strengthen the culture of academic literacy and expand publication opportunities for students continue to be intensified by the Master’s Program in Islamic Economics (MES), Faculty of Islamic Economics and Business (FEBI), UIN Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta. One strategic initiative in this regard is the establishment of a partnership with Bacaan Media, an independent publisher actively engaged in managing academic works and popular literacy publications.
The official cooperation agreement was signed by the Head of the Master’s Program in Islamic Economics, Muhammad Ghafur Wibowo, S.E., M.Sc., and the Director of Bacaan Media, Wahyu Wibowo, S.Pd., M.Pd., M.E., at the FEBI UIN Sunan Kalijaga campus on Monday (August 11, 2025). The signing was also attended by Siti Nur Azizah, S.E.I., M.E.I., Secretary of the Master’s Program in Islamic Economics, who emphasized that this cooperation is expected to open new pathways for students and lecturers to be more actively engaged in scholarly writing and to produce publications with tangible benefits for society and academic development.
The collaboration covers a wide range of activities, including student internships, writing training programs, seminars, research, community service initiatives, and the development of scholarly publications. On the same occasion, MES UIN Sunan Kalijaga, through an official letter, also expressed its full support and recommendation for Bacaan Media to publish academic journals, including the involvement of lecturers and students as authors, peer reviewers, and editors.
According to Dr. Muhammad Ghafur Wibowo, the partnership represents a strategic step toward strengthening the university’s academic reputation while fostering students’ academic literacy. Through this collaboration, the program seeks to provide broader access for student works to enter the scholarly arena.
The Director of Bacaan Media, Wahyu Wibowo, welcomed the collaboration and reaffirmed Bacaan Media’s commitment to supporting the vision of MES UIN Sunan Kalijaga by providing quality publication platforms, building cross-disciplinary knowledge networks, and inspiring students to continuously develop their writing skills.
The agreement is valid for a period of two years and may be extended by mutual consent. Looking ahead, both parties are preparing a number of strategic programs, including intensive writing workshops, student internships, and sustained initiatives to enhance writing competencies. This synergy is expected to generate a greater number of high-quality scholarly works while strengthening an inclusive, adaptive, and socially beneficial knowledge ecosystem.
