Master’s Program in Islamic Economics Hosts Visiting Lecture from the Graduate School of IAIN Syaikh Abdurrahman Siddik Bangka Belitung
The Graduate School of IAIN Syaikh Abdurrahman Siddik Bangka Belitung, Master’s Program in Islamic Economics, established academic synergy with UIN Sunan Kalijaga through a Visiting Lecture held at the Faculty of Islamic Economics and Business (FEBI), Master’s Program in Islamic Economics, on Tuesday (September 30, 2025).
The visiting lecture featured two guest lecturers from the Master’s Program in Islamic Economics, Graduate School of IAIN SAS Bangka Belitung, namely Wulpiah, M.Ag., and Ahmad Irvani, M.Ag. Both speakers delivered lectures focusing on strengthening Islamic economics in the digital era and addressing the challenges of implementing Islamic values within national economic development.
In her presentation, Dr. Wulpiah emphasized that the development of Islamic economics should not rely solely on financial instruments, but must also be supported by literacy, regulation, and ethical commitment from all stakeholders. She noted that Islamic economics should function as a collective movement capable of addressing the needs of the ummah while simultaneously promoting the values of social justice.
Meanwhile, Dr. Ahmad Irvani highlighted the urgency of community economic empowerment through Islamic philanthropy. According to him, Islamic philanthropy offers significant opportunities for strengthening the economic empowerment of the ummah, while also requiring vigilance to ensure that sharia principles are consistently upheld. He stressed the importance of adapting to technological advancements in the collection and distribution of philanthropic funds without compromising the spirit of sharia, noting that Islamic philanthropy—particularly sadaqah jariyah—holds substantial potential in advancing community-based economic development.
The enthusiasm of students from the Master’s Program in Islamic Economics at FEBI UIN Sunan Kalijaga was evident through their active participation in discussions, the questions raised, and the research ideas proposed in response to the topics presented.
In his closing remarks, the Dean of the Faculty of Islamic Economics and Business at UIN Sunan Kalijaga expressed appreciation for the academic visit from the Graduate School of IAIN SAS Bangka Belitung. He emphasized that collaborations of this nature are essential for strengthening scholarly networks and enriching students’ academic perspectives. He further expressed hope that this cooperation would continue through joint research initiatives and other academic programs in the future.
