The New Generation of Student Association Officers of the Master’s Program in Islamic Economics (HMPM) FEBI UIN Sunan Kalijaga Officially Inaugurated for 2024

Yogyakarta, June 11, 2024 – The new executive board of the Student Association of the Master’s Program in Islamic Economics (HMPM) at the Faculty of Islamic Economics and Business (FEBI), Universitas Islam Negeri (UIN) Sunan Kalijaga, for the 2024 term was officially inaugurated. The inauguration ceremony, held on the third floor of the FEBI building, was attended by academic staff, the outgoing HMPM board, and invited guests.

This inauguration marked the beginning of a new leadership period, expected to bring a renewed spirit of reform and innovation in advancing the Master’s Program in Islamic Economics (MES). The event was officially opened by the Head of the MES Study Program, Dr. Muhammad Ghafur Wibowo, S.E., M.Sc. In his opening remarks, he emphasized that not everyone has the opportunity to learn and serve within HMPM, as it requires significant personal sacrifices. Collaboration, commitment, and the sincere dedication of time, energy, and thought are essential to advancing the student association. Therefore, all members are expected to fully dedicate themselves, remain focused on shared agreements, and consistently carry out what has been planned. He highlighted that the inauguration marked the starting point of this collective commitment.

The newly elected Chairperson of HMPM, Muhammad Budi Utama, S.E., stated in his speech that the key direction of this year’s leadership is to transform HMPM into an organization that is BERAKSI (Berpikir Rasional, Aktif, Komunikatif, dan Solutif—Rational Thinking, Active, Communicative, and Solution-Oriented). This vision will be realized through integration and collaboration among various stakeholders, including MES students at large, not only the HMPM executive board. Moving forward, all officers will carry out duties and programs aimed at supporting the MES study program, particularly in enhancing students’ intellectual development and economic-related skills through various training sessions, academic discussions, seminars, and other relevant and beneficial activities.

Furthermore, Tama—as he is commonly known—expressed his hope that MES students, especially HMPM officers, will not only absorb theoretical knowledge from their coursework but also develop rational thinking in response to current economic trends. By doing so, they are expected to integrate academic theory with contemporary contexts and ultimately become pioneers capable of offering practical and solution-oriented responses to evolving economic challenges.

Following the inauguration, the 2024 HMPM Board of Islamic Economics FEBI UIN Sunan Kalijaga immediately convened its first working meeting. This meeting resulted in the formulation of various work programs expected to make tangible contributions across academic, entrepreneurial, social, writing, and other areas. New initiatives emerging from the revitalization and evaluation of the previous year’s programs are set to be implemented by the 2024 HMPM Board of Islamic Economics FEBI UIN Sunan Kalijaga in the near future.
