Closing of the FEBI UIN Sunan Kalijaga–Wuxi Institute of Technology Student Exchange Program: Building Bridges of Culture and Knowledge
The Student Exchange Program collaboration between the Faculty of Islamic Economics and Business (FEBI), UIN Sunan Kalijaga, and Wuxi Institute of Technology (WXIT), China, for the 2023 academic year has successfully concluded after one full semester. The closing ceremony was held on Sunday, January 28, 2024, at the School of International Education Building, WXIT. The event was officially led by Professor Zhou Guijin, President of the School of International Education at Wuxi Institute of Technology.
During the ceremony, Professor Zhou Guijin symbolically awarded certificates and academic transcripts to each participating student as formal recognition of their academic achievements throughout the program period.
The program was designed to deepen mutual understanding and cooperation in financial management practices, serving as tangible evidence of the strength of international collaboration and academic exchange. Through a combination of lectures and workshops, students gained valuable insights into various aspects of Financial Management. In addition, the program facilitated cultural exchange both inside and outside the classroom through cultural visits, social activities, and hands-on cultural practices. In this context, Master of Islamic Economics (MES) students—Muh Afdhal Mubarak AS and Zahra Irma Rahmawati—actively engaged in and experienced Chinese traditions firsthand.
Throughout the program, students were encouraged to apply theoretical concepts to real-world scenarios through case studies and simulations. This practical approach not only enhanced their understanding of financial management principles but also equipped them with applicable skills that can be utilized in their future professional careers.
The exchange program represented more than a physical journey across countries; it was an intellectual journey that enriched students’ understanding of global contexts and cross-cultural dynamics. Through academic discussions and collaborative projects, students explored relevant issues in finance and management while gaining deeper insights into Chinese cultural perspectives.
In conclusion, the Student Exchange Program stands as a testament to the transformative power of education, collaboration, and cultural exchange in fostering positive change and building a brighter future for the next generation. As students bid farewell, they carried with them not only new knowledge and skills but also meaningful friendships, shared ideas, and collective support—intangible yet invaluable outcomes of this experience. By applying these learnings in their careers and daily lives, students are expected to contribute significantly to the development of a more inclusive and sustainable society.
