Master’s Program in Islamic Economics Conducts LAMEMBA On-Site Accreditation Assessment

As part of its ongoing efforts to enhance educational quality and strengthen global competitiveness, the Master’s Program in Islamic Economics at UIN Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta conducted an on-site accreditation assessment on 21–22 August 2023. The assessment was carried out by assessors from LAMEMBA, Prof. Dr. Nasikh, S.E., M.P., M.Pd., and Dr. Nisful Laila, S.E., M.Com. This on-site assessment aimed to ensure higher standards of educational quality and to further enhance the program’s competitiveness. The process represents a key component in realizing the vision of excellence upheld by the Faculty of Islamic Economics and Business and the Master’s Program in Islamic Economics, particularly in preparing graduates to compete at both national and international levels.

The opening ceremony, held on Monday, 21 August 2023, was officially inaugurated by Prof. Dr. Phil. Al-Makin, MA, Rector of UIN Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta. The event was attended by a wide range of stakeholders, including members of the University Senate, Vice Rectors, Deans, Vice Deans, Heads and Secretaries of Study Programs, as well as representatives from academic institutions, administrative staff, students, and other stakeholders from the Faculty of Islamic Economics and Business. All participants shared a common commitment to positioning the Master’s Program in Islamic Economics as a leading academic institution capable of achieving global excellence and producing highly qualified graduates.

Throughout the assessment process, both the study program and the faculty demonstrated strong implementation of the university’s tridharma—education, research, and community engagement—at both national and international levels. The learning process, which encourages academic freedom and allows students to explore knowledge from diverse sources, has resulted in strong outcomes, particularly in scientific publications. These achievements are supported by collaboration with highly competent faculty members in their respective fields. Through this on-site assessment, it is expected that the Master’s Program in Islamic Economics will attain an excellent accreditation status.

During the closing session on Tuesday, 22 August 2023, assessor Dr. Nisful Laila, S.E., M.Com., conveyed that the Self-Evaluation Document of the Master’s Program in Islamic Economics was of a very high standard and demonstrated strong readiness for the accreditation process. The competence and high enthusiasm of both faculty members and students in conducting research at national and international levels were highlighted as key strengths of the program. She noted that continued efforts toward internationalization would significantly support the program in achieving excellence and recognition. Additionally, Prof. Dr. Nasikh, S.E., M.P., M.Pd., provided recommendations for further development, including the integration of innovative information technology in learning, improved research management, and the creation of a more dynamic academic atmosphere. The assessment concluded with closing remarks from Prof. Dr. Phil. Al-Makin, MA, who expressed pride in the achievements of the Master’s Program in Islamic Economics and reaffirmed the university’s commitment to continuously supporting academic excellence and institutional development.
